Sucks to be a United fan, Cristiano Ronaldo is really moving next door to Man City

Isn't Cristiano Ronaldo regarded the best player in football? He's even better than Baggio, Pele and Messi in the eyes of his cult like followers. Recent reports from Fabrizio Romano, the football journalist, indicate  that Ronaldo has been looking for a new club.

But we all thought it was just rumors. The last 48 hours has seen
Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo's agent jumping club to club offering Cristiano to various big clubs in Europe and maybe  City is just the club for Ronaldo.

Quick background :City failed to secure Harry Kane earlier in the transfer window because Daniel Levy refused to sell Kane. Why? Because Mancity is looking to retain their premier league title and go for more titles.

Last season they won the title without a striker and they  might brag and claim they had Aguero but he only starred in 7 games the whole season. Regardless, they need a striker as their rivals, namely Chelsea, United etc. have made additions to their squads and it might be a tough campaign for City if they do not get a striker.

The transfer is a perfect move for Cristiano Ronaldo. Recent reports reveal that personal terms are done and Pep Guardiola talked to him yesterday (26 Aug) morning. It is turning out to be a really unique transfer window for football fans. (Ask Manchester United fans) .

What does this tell you? Loyalty in football is no longer the same as compared to the past. From a fan's viewpoint, this is a betrayal of the highest order. A club legend like Cristiano Ronaldo going to City is going to be something unique.

City and United do not see eye to eye. They are fierce rivals. Think Everton and Liverpool. The fans despise each other and in this case Ronaldo going to City is going to be quite a moment in the football universe.

Loyalty nowadays will take you nowhere especially if you want to have a good career. For example, a player like Gerrard had an opportunity to join Jose in 2005 but he decided to stay in Liverpool. He ended his career not being a Premier League winner.Sad.

So Ronaldo joining City is not a matter of loyalty and what the fans will see him as, but what's good for his career and his family as well as his financial security. Family and career come first and the other things follow. He is returning to the premier league where there is pressure. And any observer will testify that CR7 thrives in pressure and he will show the world why he is still the best.

But, is this a good move for Manchester City? They are not known for pursuing  players who are older than 35 y/o but maybe for a player like Ronaldo who is special, he might bring goals and still perform regardless of his age.

It must suck to be a United fan. CR7 is just watching out for his legacy. Who doesn't want to keep winning in life?
