Noise Presents: OG Malo

OG Malo Isn't Testing The Waters.

He Is swimming With The Sharks

The hunt for buzz took us to Kasarani. It smells like undiscovered talent over there. Coupled with under-reported and overly dedicated artists. We cast the  buzz fishing net and caught OG Malo who is rolling out his debut EP through out September in conjunction with Buzz Hunter.

To break the ice, we need to move past the newness that comes with discovering, well, you know, undiscovered artists. Peruse OG Malo's Ice Breaker interview  below.

Artist of the month OG Malo

The Address: I wanted to begin this conversation by talking about your debut project. How do you imagine 'Kuomoka Issa Must' EP will shape your musical journey?

OG Malo: It will pave the way for more projects and capture the attention of Kenyans/Nairobians and let them know that its not only the mainstream artists putting in work

TA: Making and releasing a debut project is a huge task for any artist. Can you talk about how you decided to make this your first musical output?

OGM:I decided to put this out as my first musical output cause it felt like something Kenyans/Nairobians or even the international market would consume with much ease and fun

TA: The beginning of anything is as important as the ending. How much pressure are you faced with now as you release your debut EP?

OGM: I don't like to put myself under too much pressure as life inanipea pressure ya kuomoka so I'm just taking everything day for day and looking forward releasing more visuals

TA: Why was this the perfect time to drop Kuomoka Issa Must

OGM: I felt more than ready to do this plus I had already tried a lot of different things trying to get a plate for mines so am thinking This Is It

TA: Kuomoka translates to Success/Making It. And it takes a lot to actually be successful in Life. How do you see yourself succeeding in music,in business and other areas of life?

OGM: I always fill my ears before emptying my mouth so that has always put me one step ahead now I just want to put in work and be a Tycoon in this music business not today, not tomorrow but eventually I'll be there

Kuomoka Issa Must Cover & Tracklist

TA: Let's talk about your creative process. I find that some artists prefer to make music in Isolation by themselves, while others like to make music in the presence of their homies for motivational purposes. Where do you stand and why?

OGM: Well, For me am a lone wolf so I write my music alone between 1am - 6am that's when it's very silent and later record it.

TA: Coming from Kasarani must have had some major influence in the way you view the world. Can you talk about the state of things in Kasarani from your perspective. What is it like over there?

OGM: Being from Kasarani ,I don't limit my perspective of the world to what is out here but Kasarani people are very hardworking. We say kujituma. Watu Kasarani wamejituma sana and you always gotta have your own back ama utachezwa especially ukikaa mnyonge.

"I don't limit my perspective of the world to what is out here but Kasarani people are very hardworking. We say kujituma. Watu Kasarani wamejituma sana."
