Letter From The Editor

The beginning of the last quarter of the year is here. In basketball terms, last quarters are everything. Equally important are the moments leading up to the fourth quarter. As I write this, I am compelled to acknowledge that The Address is now four years old. August 29, marked the fourth anniversary of @theaddress_ke. I know this because it said so when I clicked on about this account on our Instagram page. August 29, 2017 is the day we took the first step towards making sense of the world around us.

As a writer, in four years I have thrown a lot of stuff at the wall to see what sticks and what doesn’t. And I have arrived at the conclusion that you, the reader, have a natural selection mechanism that enables you to pick and choose the content you want to consume. You also seem to gravitate towards general human interest topics. From the arts to contemporary culture, internet culture, to proprietary  information that helps you stay in the modern conversation. For the largest part, this is what has guided the editorial direction of The Address since it's inception.

More recently, I thought it was a good idea  for The Address  to adopt  a chaotic approach towards the material we make and publish. That meant covering, reporting and  creating narratives about everything that matters to Gen Z and Gen Y. And the few outliers beyond this age groups. Out of the chaos, order emerged and now more than ever I can say I know what the readership wants: Everything. The audience wants every bit of information that helps them stay as close as possible to Reality. Bill Gates said Content is king in 1998. Bill is a nice guy but he was wrong. Information is King, not content.

While taking my shot at making sense of our editorial  past, I have come up with a picture of what the present looks like, and what the future could be. I think that as the simulation known as the internet grows, there is only going to be more demand for information. We intend to feed the beast by continuing to publish informative content in every way, shape or form.  And make it available on-air and off-air.

I don't want to bombard you with all the details. What I would rather do is welcome you to peruse The Biggest Stories Of The Last Sixty Days. It comes with all the major stories that made headlines in the last 2 months. Stories that broke the news, shed light, sparked conversations and painted a picture of what is really going on in Nairobi and the world around it. Stories that reflect what @theaddress_ke is and what The Address does.

I hope that you, the reader, will continue to find some sort of value, or just get good shit every time you visit The Address.
