DJ Mawinch Is Taking Over The Shrap Movement's Closet With Renots Apparel

Get To Know DJ Mawinch

What’s your latest project? What have you been working on?

Shrap Vol 20..last week

Renots I'm making satin bomber jackets and puff jackets, previous project was corduroy outfits

What inspired you to found Renots Apparel?

The clothing line was previously called 'Team Stoner' though I wanted to change it's name to something else so decided on Renots which is stoner backwards.

Came pandemic and my first project was making masks so nika register company na nikaanza biz as a new company

Could you give us an insight into how far your catalogue has expanded since?

Yeah from masks, tshirts, sweaters & hoodies, tracksuits, corduroy, denim jackets and pants, bucket hats, bomber jackets & puffs, boxers, bikinis,

Now I'm working on shoes

What do you think can be done to ensure shrap music reaches it’s full potential

"Kuna siku ma youth wataungana"

How has Renots Apparel adapted to Covid-19 and it’s effect on businesses?

Quite well, took advantage of the pandemic and made door to door deliveries at first getting more connections from people and this made me get orders of all sorts of clothing hence growing and expanding the brand

There’s a certain stereotype about DJs in the industry you know?where people think anyone can DJ without putting in as much work

Journey yangu ilianza around 2014/15 nikianza na shrap vol 1...took many years for the recognition ndio hadi niperform kwa clubs n gigs na ilibidi we start our own shrap events called 'Shrap Nite' where we gave all artists you can think of a platform to showcase their talent.

Consistency is key na bila hii wasee watakusahau. Kenya watu hawajali kama uliget 1mill views

last year..ukinyamaza pia hao wanakusahau.
